Ricardo Arona is a mixed martial artist. He was born on July 17th, 1978 in Brazil. Ricardo is 5 ft 11 inch tall and weighs 203 lbs.
He began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in 1992 at fourteen and soon became a champion of the sport at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission World Wrestling Championships.
He was awarded first place in the under 216 pound weight division. He caused a sensation the following year (2001) when he became the third man to win a double title at the same event. He came first in the “88-98 kg” category and also won the Open weight title. His crowning glory came when he won the ADCC Superfight. He then left for the larger international Free Fight organization, the Japanese Pride FC.
He became the Pride Middleweight Grand Prix vice-champion in 2005, beaten in the final by his compatriot Mauricio Rua, after having won his first three fights against Dean Lister, Sakuraba and his archrival Wanderlei Silva. Ricardo Arona has clocked up 18 fights with 13 victories and 5 defeats.
